I read this book for a book club I belong to. At first, I wasn't sure I could make it through. It has a pretty horrific event happen right off the bat, and with young children at home, it really made an instant impact. However, I pushed through and consider myself better for having read the story entirely. Not only did I have the reminder of how quick things can change, for better or worse. But the narrator also opened my mind to the idea of whether or not good people are good in every situation. I often found myself asking how I would respond if I were in one of the character's shoes; who would I put first?
